Lidded pots are some of my favourite things to make. I have a lot of pieces on the shelf ready to underglaze and I’m just choosing one or two at a time, going slowly, experimenting with new designs and colour combos and getting in flow.

I’m also back teaching casually (in a primary school), and having fun being a school mum now that Charlotte has started prep.

I’m looking forward to sharing more here and there as I slowly work on new pieces. Xx

Last Friday was opening night of ‘Nice Mug’ at Brunswick Street Gallery. It is my very first group show and such a ‘pinch me’ moment to be featured alongside such incredible artists. Tom and I had such a ball at the opening, being in crowded rooms buzzing with energy and heat, chatting with friends and meeting new people.

Thanks to @teganiversen for curating the show and inviting me to share my work.

I’m super excited to share that I am part of this fab group exhibition, ‘Nice Mug’, showing at @brunswickstreetgallery from October 27th - November 13th featuring an array of nice mugs!

Presence and Intention. Two words I have been thin

Presence and Intention. Two words I have been thinking about a lot recently.

I captured this moment with my daughter yesterday in the studio because it represents a shift in presence and intention for me.
In recent past I would have multi- tasked helping my daughter whilst working on my own pieces, which often turned into a recipe for frustration for both of us.

But yesterday I just sat alongside, helped get her colors ready, stayed in the present moment with her, on her project.

For me, as a mother, I am always trying to find a balance between my own needs and the needs of my family.

My passion for ceramics and building a small business for myself is important to me, and so is being present in the season of life that I am in right now.

So I have been doing less in the studio so that I can give more to my children, so that I can have them home sick and care for them without feeling resentful or anxious about work I had planned to do, so that I can invest my energy into my marriage, so that I can enjoy my garden on a sunny day or just sit and watch MAFS if my energy is low. To ‘give’ and ‘invest’ in these things with presence and intention actually brings me so much joy. And also importantly, I am being more conscious of my phone use and how addictive this app can be.

Now that Spring is here, I am feeling a desire to get back into the studio and reconnect with you all here, but I won’t be obsessing about reel creation and I will be keeping a close eye on my phone use when I’m with my family.

I am also finding joy in reading poetry and learning about veggie gardening, in going to tai chi with my husband every week and planning fun trips together, and spending quality time with friends and also by myself.

And I acknowledge that my particular family circumstance in which my husband’s work allows me to take time out is a great privilege and I am very grateful.
